Whether you want to organise your own closet or become a high-end closet organiser, it’s always a good idea to start off with the basics. One of the challenges for most of us is the space factor.
How disappointing can it be if you don’t have enough space to store all your worthy possessions like – your designer clothing, handbags your jimmy choos. Well here are some tips to find that hidden space or make the most of the space you have!
First things First – Declutter! Get rid of things you don’t need, such as old clothes that you don’t wear anymore, shoes, bags and other little things that have piled up over the years. Once you do this, you will have to worry about fewer things to fit into limited space.
Next up get some hangers and shelf dividers. Shelf dividers are a great way to get the most of your shelf space as they can keep your folded clothes in place.
Keep clothes that you wear daily at eye level, clothes that you wear less often should go below and the clothes that you wear the least should be right on top. If you are really restricted on space try hanging one hanger on another, this way you can hang two items of clothing.
There are also under shelf storage shelves that can easily be fixed to your shelves to place little items. Make use of the space behind the closet doors by attaching some hooks, you can hang items of clothing such as scarves and other light items. Colour code your wardrobe for quick and easy picks when in a rush.
If there is no room for the shoes, then a great way to store them would be finding little corners of your house and installing storages and having a curtain to cover it. The rich curtain could add to the look of your house and at the same time hide what’s behind it. Ottomans also a great way to hide your shoes. Investing in an under the bed storage rack could be a great idea and covering this with a bed skirt will require minimum effort.
Treat your closet as you would treat any other expensive piece of furniture or ornament in the house. Add some lighting to brighten up space and add a touch of elegance. Play around with the nobs of your closet doors to add a more rich look. Rugs could be a great add-on and rather than opt for an ordinary stool to reach the higher shelves invest in a luxury cushioned stool that could be a part of your masterpiece.
